Unfortunately we initially thought these might be in
the Surrey area but our 2008 dates are in Loughborough. There will be more dates
in 2009 but these are our only dates for 2008.

2. Lumbar Spine, SIJ and Pelvis Differentiation
The above one-day courses are suitable for outpatient physiotherapists with a
knowledge of joint, neurodynamics and movement dysfunction assessment. Patient
assessment demonstrations will be used as a tool to facilitate the formulation
of a clinical hypothesis, integrated testing and analysis. Emphasis will be
placed on clinical skills and on the formulation of a clinical hypothesis.
Participants will plan and discuss the management of these patients to
facilitate problem solving in the clinic. There will be a couple of workshops
to enhance clinical reasoning and practical assessment skills.
Applicants will be able to
reflect and identify further personal CPD needs to assist them in the
development of their clinical reasoning.
This course is for Chartered
Physiotherapists only. It is aimed at all levels of staff but applicants must
have undergraduate clinical reasoning and manual therapy skills. Pre course
reading is supplied and recommended it is completed to familiarise attendees
with all the concepts under discussion.
2 actual patient assessment demonstrations are included. These will be
assessed by Linda and the findings discussed and analysed by the group..
Participants will plan and discuss the management of these patients to
facilitate problem solving in the clinic.
There will be workshops to enhance clinical reasoning and practical assessment
skills.
On completion of the one day course the participant will be able to:
- Develop a clinical reasoning thought process through the subjective
assessment i.e. formulation of hypothesis and pattern recognition.
- Consider the interrelationship among the movement systems of the body &
differentially diagnose.
- Apply theoretical knowledge clinically.
- Have practised differentially diagnosing various structures.
- Prioritised & integrated various Rx modalities in a case presentation.
- Consider various levels of evidence for management of the patients.
- Plan further individual life long learning to further develop the above
skills.
Teaching and learning methods:
- Interactive Lectures -overhead projector.
- Case scenarios and group work.
- Demonstration patient assessment.
- Practical Sessions - problem solving
Who is this course aimed at?
