This exciting new course has been written by Margie as a result of her extensive work for the British Canoeing team, other elite athletes and a special interest in patients with shoulder problems. Having attended the current shoulder courses available Margie has combined all the best aspects of these courses and all the current evidence to the clinician in a comprehensive and extremely applicable way. Her extensive work within shoulder rehabilitation both in the early stages and advance rehab has brought a wealth of experience which she brings to the course. This is in conjunction with a DVD for each participant which demonstrates all the techniques covered on the course. This course will be ideal for all levels of therapists.

The programme demonstrates the course will revise anatomy, clinical tests, the function and examination of the rotator cuff and the vital role of the scapula. This will be complemented by a CD for each participant containing all the tests discussed.

At the end of this course the participant will be able to:

  • Confidently perform the examination tests of the shoulder girdle region.
  • Critique the key examination tests of the shoulder girdle region.
  • Identify the main contributing factors underlying presenting pathology in the shoulder girdle region.
  • Identify the presenting features of instability, primary and secondary impingement.
  • Discuss and demonstrate the clinical biomechanics of the shoulder girdle region.
  • Confidently formulate and justify an appropriate treatment and management plan for shoulder problems from the early to intermediate stage of rehabilitation.
  • Understand clinical presentations which are appropriate for physiotherapy management and those that need further referral.
These learning outcomes will be supported by comprehensive notes and the CD. The advance stages of rehab and further motor control retaining will be dealt with in the Advanced course .
