Summary

This course utilises both the concept of the myofascial connections popularised in Anatomy Trains by Tom Myers and kinesiology taping.

As clinicians it is important to not consider muscles in isolation to consider systemic factors in a presenting problem. That way, the body can be viewed from a 3 dimensional point of view as a functional unit.

An example of one of these myofascial lines is the Superficial Back Line which includes the epicranial fascia, semispinalis, iliocostalis, sacral fascia, sacrotuberous ligament, hamstrings, gastroc and plantar fascia, thus forming a head-to-toe continuum. Thus painful problems in one area of the line can be linked to non painful areas distant from the presenting pain.

The myofascial kinesiology taping concept focuses on these connected lines and, using special fascial technique applications, aims to balance the tension across the myofascial meridians, thus treating the contributing factors of presenting problems..

In addition to taping the course will also include manual fascial techniques and myofascial trigger points techniques The addition of tape brings added benefits during activities of daily living and sport.

The day consists of both theory and practical sessions with some time for discussion.
